What REALLY matters when it comes down to it?

Between the coronavirus, kids at home and attempted virtual homeschooling, fires, and smoke, this is a very crazy and scary time for those living in California. Many have had to evacuate, flee for their lives, with a few chosen belongings ... If you're in the Bay Area or California in general, chances are you know someone who has had to evacuate, or are concerned about your safety as well as your loved ones. I know I am.

Two years ago my mom evacuated to my house, from Chico, next to the Camp Fire. I remember when she was leaving her house - a home she LOVES where she has surrounded herself with all of her favorite items - none of that stuff mattered. She left, bringing only clothes, water, her medicines, important documents, and her kitty with her.

Sometimes, the things we hold on to so tightly in normal times, don't even come to mind in these times. And as much as KonMari is about going through your stuff, it's really NOT about stuff. In these moments, KonMari helps with the MOST essential of things:

- What is most important?
- Do you know where your most important documents, momentos, and items are?
- Have you evaluated what REALLY matters to you?

Sometimes, when we are surrounded by things that don't matter, it's hard to remember those that really do.

But if you had to leave, what would you take with you?

Who knew clothes could hide your voice?!

What IS KonMari’ing and how is it different from traditional organizing?
